Evaluation process

I have completed the first question for the evaluation but I still need to read over it and edit certain sections of it. As its insisted that the evaluation is presented in different media based forms, I am going to film myself in front of a green screen and then talk through my first part of the evaluation. I am then going to insert a video in the background which highlights the different sections that I am talking about. I have also done my second question however I am going to present this through a video and use voice recording to talk over the certain parts of the digipak/poster/video that I am discussing.

final music video

This is the third draft for our music video, we are going to put it on websites for people to give us feedback on it so that we can use this feedback within our individual evaluations, however we are really happy with the way that our music video looks!

Editing last parts of music video

Firstly, we needed to make sure that for the first chorus there is  a shot of me singing which we replaced with a previous one of me singing 'suddenly I see' as this is a convention which we need to adhere to. We didn't want to repeat this shot more than once so we extended out another shot where we are spinning around, as this involves movement in the shot it does not slow down the pace so we are all happy with this change.

I changed one of the 'suddenly I see' sections to build up the pace more by including more pictures infront of the previous shot as it is quite slow and we needed to build more pace on these sections as they are the chorus.

I also changed another one to more cars driving past which has been sped up to give it more pace, the previous shots were too slow and didn't look right so we are all happy with the change that we have made here.

The section where there is a montage of images, the effect has been removed to speed up the pace of it as the effect slowed it down.
We included the text for the name of the band and the titles but we need to move this around and also include the record label too, which will make it look a lot more realistic. I've moved around the text and also changed the font so that it is coherent with the digipaks.

This can now be exported and we can put it onto social networking websites such as facebook and twitter so that we can get more feedback from outside people. This will be really helpful because we can get an outsiders perspective on our music video as they will not be aware of the genre so it will be interesting to find out wether this is portrayed to people. We can also all use the feedback individually in our evaluations. If there are any major recurring issues that are spoken about in our feedback we will discuss in changing certain aspects but at the moment we are very happy with the way that the music video looks, and with the feedback that we have already got from teachers and also people in our class.

27th February 2014

Today we presented our video to the class to show the changes that we have made to the final touches of our music video. We got some very positive feedback saying how we had improved a lot on our music videos and also by the editing too. They mentioned how they really liked the montage that we had included, of all the different types of pictures of us, which makes us seem really carefree and that we are all friends. However, we still need to build up the pace of the video as there are sections which are lacking in this and we need to do this through editing and also by changing certain shots and including more pictures ect. We also need to include the text at the beginning of the music video to indicate the band name and the name of the actual song. I'm really happy with the overall feedback that we have been getting and we will be making the changes to the music video. We will then post this on social networks to get more feedback.

Editing

Today a lot of changes have been made to the music video in order to speed up the overall pace of it. For example, there is a jump cut of us walking and inbetween the shots we have included holly playing the guitar. From doing this is speeds up the pace of the music video and makes it less boring and more visually exciting to watch.
Another part where I included more footage is the scene where we are in the arcade and some of the shots are quite long. Instead more shots have been included such as the following screen shots. It speeds up the pace of the song and also corresponds with the song too making it look a lot better!

Leanne mentioned to us for one of the singing sections the footage is too long and it doesn't fit in well with the overall pace as it slows it down a lot. We decided to use lots of shots for this section of older singing footage and cut different sections of it and put them all together. We think that it looks really good and also adds to the overall pace of the video which is what we have been advised to do.

We still need to include the titles in the music video, which can be easily done, and also include more pictures. We like the idea of having a montage of lots of images in the video but we need to workout how to go about it to make it fit in well with the video. By doing this is makes it seem a lot more fun and relates well to the genre of the video.

I have experimented with different effects on the pictures and there is one called 'channel map' which dissolves the pictures into each other. However I am going to look and see if there are other ones which might relate better to our music video.

Editing

We have shown Leanne our music video and asked for her feedback on it. She has said that she likes the beginning and ending of the music video however there are some shots which are held for to long which slows down the overall pace of the music video.
I also agree with this, for example in the music video during the 'dance' section it needs to be faster and more fun. I also agree with this as the overall tone needs to be quicker and we are going to achieve this by including more shots and cutting parts in the video too. We don't need to reshoot anything however we do need to remove some shots as they don't look correct in the position they're in.

2nd Draft Music Video!

Editing

Yesterday and today we have all been editing the music video. Yesterday Holly & Megan edited the new footage into the music video and today I have edited the colours and changed the order of some shots and also replaced some of the shots, and we have finished our second draft.

I changed the shot of us walking towards the camera as the colour of it really didn't fit in well with the music video, so I changed it to an older one of us walking away from the camera as the colour is a lot warmer.

I also changed around some of the positions of the shots to make it match the beat of the song better, for example I changed round the shot of the london eye and the shadow image as the pace of the song works better when they are switched around. We are really happy with the progress that we have made and we like the way that all of the shots have a similar warm feel to them. We will show this to people and ask them on any more changes that they feel we need to do.

Reshooting (4th Feb)

Today we went to Danson to reshoot the sections that we needed to do. This included taking more shots of me singing the chorus section as we used the same one and it was very repetitive. We took a variety of different shots which we feel is a lot better, the weather was also a lot better and sunnier which makes it look better too, and even better than the first ones.

We filmed me singing the first section of the song as the teachers said this was needed, and we still used the map in the shot to apply to Goodwin's theory of a relation between the lyrics and the visuals.

We also took a shot of meg singing the background section as this needed to be replaced and also give her a part in the band as it didn't seem like she was doing anything.

We took more 'selfies' too as the teachers felt that this was a lot more fun and charismatic which is what we wanted to present in our video.
