FINAL poster and digipak

This is the final draft for my poster.

This is the final draft for my digipak. I have included two images so you can see the bottom left picture clearly and also to see the dvd better. 

Digipak Edited

I have made the changes to my digipak which included turning the top images around and then moving the spine. I have also shown clearly now where the extra cd (exclusive dvd) is going to be, and now you can clearly see the bottom image. I am really happy with the way that my digipak looks and I feel that it adheres to the genres of our band!

Changes for the music video

These shots need to be changed as they are repeated too much throughout the video. We are still going to keep them but we need to film more shots of me singing the chorus so that it doesn't look repetitive or boring.
Also, we need to reshoot the first section of the music video, as I need to be singing it.

 This part of holly is also going to be changed to meg, as holly is the guitar player and meg is going to be shown as the background singer.

People really liked the shot where we took a 'selfie' as it portrays the video as really fun and relates to the genre of the band. People think that we should use more of these in the beginning of the video as the 2nd half is alot more fun than the first.

Editing

Nobody said that there was a problem with this section but now looking at it the colour isn't correct and also it doesn't fit in well with the location. We took shots up London of cars that we felt would look a lot better so I have edited them into the music video. 

. A lot of people mentioned that the colour for the music video needed to be edited to keep consistency throughout the video so today I have edited the video by changing the colours of certain parts, for example the fire section. I have edited this section by changing the colours that makes it look more warmer and fits in better with the music video. 

Feedback from first draft of music video

We presented our music video and individual digipak and posters to the class and teachers so that we could get feedback. For my digipak all I need to do is turn around the images and move the spines into the right position, and there are no changes to my poster. 

Overall from the feedback I agree with all that we need to change. We used the singing from the chorus too much throughout the video that makes it look quite repetitive and it could get boring. We are going to keep the two original shots but we are going to film me singing more parts of it so that it does not get too repetitive. Also, we needed to have singing at the beginning section of the music video too as this is a convention that we need to adhere to, which we can easily film. There is a shot of holly that we are going to reshoot as they commented on the lip singing so we are going to change this. 

We needed to make sure that the colour scheme throughout the whole music video is continued throughout which I also agree with, as this can continue the indie/folk genre throughout. We are going to make some of the shots look a lot warmer by using the colour editor. The teachers said that the first half of the music video was not as fun as the 2nd half so we need to make sure that we spread this throughout the music video so that all of it is fun instead of one section. They really liked the 'selfie' shot as it's quite fun so we are going to take more of these and use them in the beginning section of the video to portray this 'fun' look. Adding to this, we need to make sure the overall pace of the music video matches the beat of the music too. We have discussed this as a group and we are going to make all the changes to the music video. 

Music Video First Draft

This is our first draft for our music video, and we have presented it to the class and we are going to make the changes that were suggested in the feedback.

Poster and Digipak

This is my digipak and poster that I am going to show to the class and get the feedback on it, in case i need to make any changes to it. I am very happy with it so far as I feel that the genre is portrayed within both and that there is consistency throughout my digipak and poster, and also the music video. 

Editing

I have converted the clips from the filming that we done on Sunday and Monday and me and Megan have split the editing process between us. There are some parts that we have changed as we feel that some shots are more suited to the overall feel of the music video. There are a few shots that needed to be included which Holly is going to do but that majority of the editing has been finished today and we are happy with the overall look of the music video.

20th January 2014

Today we filmed the fire section of the music video which was the last part we needed to film. It was quite difficult to actually get the fire started but when we eventually got it started we got some really good shots that apply to Goodwin's theory of visuals and lyrics. This now needs to be edited into the music video and for the rest of it to be edited and then presented to the class.

19th January 2014

Today we went to London to film the majority of our music video, we went to London Bridge, The London Eye, Trafalgar Square, South Bank, Waterloo, Piccadilly Circus and more. We took shots for the first section of the music video which we changed to pictures instead of shots as they are not shown for long.

For a certain section of the music video we were using the intertextual references but we are going to use a section that we filmed in London which we feel is more fun and relaxed rather than being quite posed. We got a lot of different shots in different locations, from different angles, and we feel that this will suit the music video more as its more diverse and fun to look at. We tried to stick to the story boards however when we were there we came up with more ideas that we thought would look really good in the music video.

Editing

Today I converted the clips that we filmed yesterday and I also took out the 'why the hell it mean so much to me?' section as we reshot this. I also tried lightening one of the shots as it was really dark and now it fits in a lot better. We are all editing different sections of the music video so that we all get to have a chance at editing, however we are all discussing the editing together.

15th January 2014

Journal: 

Today we filmed at Megan's house, we re-filmed the section where I sing 'why the hell it mean to much to me?' and we are really happy with the way it looks as it's a lot brighter and more comfortable. We also filmed other parts where we run to the camera but it was getting dark so we might have to reshoot or film it again. We filmed the other sections where I need to sing and of the cars driving past which we will speed up. We still have more filming to do, we are going to London on Sunday and we have the whole day to get lots of shooting and locations done. I am quite happy with the progress we are making and we are going to edit. what we shot today, tomorrow.

Digipak Editing

For my digipak I have included a spine and used the same typography to keep it consistent. I also used the image of the guitar above the text to convey the genre of indie/rock/folk as this is also in the main title. I changed the 'exclusive dvd inside' to black so that you can see it a lot better and makes it stand out conveying why the audience should by this unique digipak.

Editing Process

Today I converted the clips that we filmed yesterday at Danson and we reviewed the ones we liked as a group. As I haven't done any editing yet I done the editing for today and we are going to split it equally so we all get a part in doing it as a group. It was quite difficult to fit in the lip singing in with the music and there were parts that we had to speed up for it to fit in. Overall I am quite happy with the singing section apart from one part.

There is a lyric which I am singing as the lead singer 'why the hell it mean so much to me' and the shot that we have for it doesn't work well with the rest. We are going to retake this section as it occurs a lot throughout the music video and I feel that it needs to be more coherent with the rest. Either we're going to do a closer shot or a further one. 

9th January 2014

Journal:

Today we went to Danson to film for our music video. We got a lot of shots done and we are really happy with the way that some of them look. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great but we still continued to film and we will use the footage as it is the performance section which is separate to the rest.

We still have a bit to film but we have planned when we are going to do this.
Next Tuesday we have a few more bits to film and then on wednesday we are going to two locations to film. Our last and final filming needs to be done at London which we are planning to do hopefully next Sunday as we need to get it all done.
